The Figs Table: More Than 100 Recipes for Pizzas, Pastas, Salads, and Desserts ReviewThe book was really fun to read and filled with many interesting tips for anyone who is beginning to cook. The variety of recipes are wonderful. I've tried some of the recipes and they were exceptional. The roasted beet and walnut gorgonzola salad, ymmm! The portobello burger and Aioli sauces were incredible. The book gives advice to newer cooks and is a real find for those who love to try new and innovative recipes. Any family member or guest would love eating food prepared from this cookbook, it is a treasure and I already know what I will make next from the cookbook: Olivia's Crunchy Chicken and Gingersnaps. I enjoyed the variety of foods offered: simple to fancy but always unique. I haven't been to Boston in 30 years and plan a trip soon and FIGS will be the first restaurant our family visits.The Figs Table: More Than 100 Recipes for Pizzas, Pastas, Salads, and Desserts Overview

Seduction and Spice: 130 Recipes for Romance ReviewI can't understand why this book has 5 stars. Yes, the binding is very pretty in red velvet. However, the recipes are not very practical. I am not looking for an every day cookbook here, either. A good portion of the recipes, especially appetizers, use caviar. If they don't use caviar, they use oysters. I want to emphasize that I didn't purchase this book for every day cooking - I wanted something for those special nights. I'm not complaining about expensive ingredients, or how long they take. There's just no substance, nothing that will wow anyone. I have found possibly 3 recipes that I can use.
For the average cook, this book is definitely a no. You're not going to spend 5 hours on these recipes. If you don't like caviar or oysters, again a no. At least half of the recipes use one or the other, if not both. For a good cook, one who enjoys spending time perfecting a culinary delight, there are many other good "couples" books out there, and many with much more variety.
